River View Sewer Express Line Project Update

Thank you for your continued patience as we move forward with this important infrastructure project in and around the Eagle River Estates neighborhood. This work is a long-term investment in the wastewater system that serves your community.

Why This Project Matters

For years, the existing sewer line in Eagle River Estates carried wastewater from both the neighborhood and much of the rest of town. Over time, demand pushed the system close to capacity, creating the need for improvements to ensure reliability and support future growth.

The new system will act as a “bypass” for the town’s wastewater, allowing the existing neighborhood lines to serve only Eagle River Estates. This reduces volume, improves reliability, and ensures the system can serve residents well for decades to come.

Project Background

  • Construction began in 2025 after the Town received a $1M Energy and Mineral Impact Fund (EMIF) grant.
  • The project includes installing a new 24-inch express sewer line to divert flow from the existing 12-inch line to the new wastewater treatment plant currently under construction.

Construction Phases

To minimize disruption, the project is divided into three phases. Note: Phase numbers follow the route of the new sewer pipe (west to east), not the construction timeline.

Phase 1 – Completed (2025)

  • Installed nearly 3,000 feet of new sewer pipe through the neighborhood along Porphyry and River View.
  • Thank you for your patience during this major phase!

Phase 0 – Planned for February 2026

  • Connects the new 24-inch sewer line to the wastewater treatment plant lift station.
  • Most work will occur along the plant entrance road, with temporary impacts near Porphyry Road.
  • Tree Removal: Nine trees will be removed to accommodate driveway widening and a temporary construction access road. This decision was made after revising the design based on community feedback to maintain a single shared entry/exit driveway for safety.
  • Replanting: The Town will evaluate opportunities for landscaping and tree replacement after construction.

Phase 2 – Planned for 2027

  • Connects the new express line to the existing sewer main near Highway 6 and River View Road.
  • This final phase will place the new line fully into service as the wastewater treatment plant comes online.

Looking Ahead

We understand construction can be inconvenient, and we appreciate your patience. These improvements will:

  • Improve wastewater flows in your neighborhood
  • Strengthen the overall system
  • Better serve residents now and into the future
