Municipal Election

Gypsum’s next Municipal election will be held April 7th, 2026. There will be three council seats and a mayoral seat to consider on the 2026 ballot. Each of these seats is a four-year term.

Council Members whose terms expire with this election are:

  • Bill Baxter
  • Marisa Sato
  • Scott Green
  • Steve Carver

How do I become a candidate?

To be eligible to run in the 2026 Gypsum Town Council election, interested persons must:

  • Be a citizen of the U.S.
  • Be a registered voter within the Town of Gypsum
  • Be at least 18 years of age
  • Have resided in Gypsum for at least one year immediately preceding such election.
  • Not be a salaried employee of the Town during their nomination period and term of office.

If you are interested and eligible to run for an open seat on the Gypsum Town Council in the 2026 Municipal Election, you must first obtain a nomination petition. Nomination Petitions for this election are available for pick up in Town Hall, or you may download and print your own Nomination Petition and Nomination Petition Information Sheet below.  Completed forms are due to the Town Clerk by 5 PM on January 26, 2026.

VOTERS ARE ENCOURAGED TO VOTE BY ABSENTEE BALLOT. Applications to request an absentee ballot be mailed to you may be picked up at Town Hall or can be downloaded below and filed with the Town Clerk.

Absentee ballots will be available in March.

All election documents submitted to the Town of Gypsum are subject to the Colorado Open Records Act and may be open to public inspection.
