Project Name: Gypsum Creek Pump Station Project

Date Started: Summer 2026

Project location/address:  Eagle River by Hwy 6 at the entrance to town

Project Status: The contractor has mobilized on site and is performing initial site work and diversion preparation. In the next week (6/22), work in the river will start

Projected completion date: End of Summer 2026

Project Description: The Gypsum Creek Pump Station project is a critical infrastructure improvement that will add redundancy and resiliency to the Town's water infrastructure. New intakes will be installed on Gypsum Creek and the Eagle River, allowing the Town to utilize existing water rights and bolster our water supply.
Work will consist of installing new intake structures and pipes in Gypsum Creek and the Eagle River, and new pumps and control systems to connect the intakes to an existing pipeline that runs to one of our water treatment plants. In order to install the intake structures, a temporary diversion will be constructed in the Eagle River. This work will be done under accordance with our permit obtained from the Army Corps of Engineers.
This temporary diversion will narrow the Eagle River immediately upstream of the Highway 6 roadway bridge. Boaters & river users should be aware of the narrower section of open river. The project will also ensure river access is maintained in this area during construction. Work in the river will last for a majority of the summer.
