Town of Gypsum Announces Sales Tax Deferral Program

In response to the COVID-19 Public Health Emergency, on Thursday, April 23, 2020, the Gypsum Town Council passed (Emergency) Ordinance No. 9, (Series 2020) authorizing the temporary deferral of Town Sales Tax payments from Gypsum businesses for March through June 2020.

The Town is extending this deferral program in an effort to assist retailers experiencing cashflow problems due to COVID-10 related economic impacts. Therefore, Gypsum businesses experiencing such financial hardship may choose to defer their sales tax payments for any part of, or, all of March - June 2020 to help lessen the negative economic impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic.

If a business chooses to defer any payments, those payments must be paid in full to the Town of Gypsum by June 30, 2021. Retailers not experiencing significant downside impacts are strongly urged to remit their sales tax payments, as usual, so the Town of Gypsum remains able to provide essential services to all residents.
