TOWN OF GYPSUM OPERATIONAL UPDATES 

Due to continued COVID-19 health concerns for both employees and the public, the Town of Gypsum offices are now open to the public with limited hours. Town Hall, Community Development, and Public Works Offices will be open to the public, 10:00 a.m.- 2:00 p.m., Monday – Friday, and Passport Services will resume by appointment only on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays, 10:00 a.m. - 2:00 p.m. These public hours will continue until further notice.

To make an appointment for Passport Services, (M, W, or F, 10:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m.) please call 970-524-1752 or email lludewig@townofgypsum.com.

We do ask that when possible, for customers to please continue to limit in-person interactions and conduct as much of your business with the town via phone, email, or online. Members of the public may still remotely contact essential service divisions, as listed below, 8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m., Monday – Friday.

(Please give town employees proper time to respond to any emails or voicemails left outside of normal business hours.)

Public Meetings will continue to be call-in only to limit community transmission of COVID-19 to council members, staff, and audience members attending these meetings. The public is invited to call into any public meeting using the phone # and access code listed on the public meeting notice posted on the Meeting Info page on Town's website prior to each meeting. The audience on the phone line may listen to the council meeting and discussion as if sitting in the audience but will be on mute while the agenda items are discussed. The audience will be unmuted or able to use the chat function when and if certain agenda items are open to public comment.

Gypsum Sales Tax Deferral Program - In response to the COVID-19 Public Health Emergency, on Thursday, April 23, 2020, the Gypsum Town Council passed (Emergency) Ordinance No. 9, (Series 2020) authorizing the temporary deferral of Town Sales Tax payments from Gypsum businesses for March through June 2020. FREE Face Masks for Gypsum Businesses - The Town has three-ply, non-medical disposable face masks available to Gypsum businesses who would like to offer them to their customers as part of their reopening social distancing protocol. Please contact Lily Ludewig at 970-524-1752 or lludewig@townofgypsum.com to make your face mask request.  

Gypsum Public Parks green/open spaces are open to groups of 50 or less. If space allows, multiple groups of 50 or fewer may occupy the green/open spaces at parks as long as each group of 50 or less can be 20 feet from other groups of 50 or fewer. Playgrounds and the skatepark are now open but please use at your own risk as the surfaces at these areas cannot be disinfected on a regular basis. Please also keep all physical distancing practices in place when using Town facilities and remember the following five commitments of containment! 

  • I will maintain 6 feet of social distance.
  • I will wash my hands often.
  • I will cover my face in public.
  • I will stay home when I am sick.
  • I will get tested immediately if I have symptoms. 

Gypsum Creek Golf Course is now open to local/Eagle County residents only and will be following the appropriate physical distancing protocols for Golf Courses. Carts will be allowed, and the driving range will be open. Please book tee times through the Gypsum Creek App or on the website or, contact the golf course directly with any questions.

Municipal Election - Due to the COVID-19 outbreak, Gypsum’s Municipal Election initially scheduled for April 7, 2020, will now take place on July 7, 2020, and will convert to a mail-in ballot. More info here.  

Gypsum Community Cleanup has been postponed from its original May date to August 22, 2020.

Fourth of July Celebration with Eagle and slated to be in Eagle this year has been canceled for 2020.

Gypsum Public Library now allows a limited number of library users in the building by appointment to browse and/or use the computer. You can reserve an hour long appointment on their website or by phone. Curbside pick up is still available for items reserved online or by phone, and digital collections remain accessible. Gypsum Recreation Center is now open with modified hours and proper distancing protocols. More detailed information on the safety protocols and reservation procedures for the GRC can be found here.
